screen capture of a hazard summary table
Summary
In this laboratory experiment, students will perform a hazard assessment for different hydrates and rank them according to their human and environmental hazards. Students will also determine the percent water in an unknown hydrate and use that information to determine the formula of a hydrate.
Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

Learning Goals/Student Objectives
• Students will gain an understanding in hydrates and anhydrates and how to determine the formula of a hydrate experimentally
• Students will understand how to identify hazard information on a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
• Students will be able to perform simple hazard assessments based on human and environmental hazard data make comparisons of the hazards between chemical compounds
