Bio

Born St. Louis, MO; 1981 BS in Chemistry, Missouri State University; 1981-85 Radiochemist, Midwest Research Institute; 1991 PhD in Bioorganic Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley; 1991-93 NIH Postdoctoral Fellow, Harvard Medical School; 1993-2000 University of Virginia; 2000-2023 Virginia Tech; 2007-2023 Created and taught CHEM 4514 Green Chemistry. Author of Green Chemistry: Principles and Case Studies © 2020, Royal Society of Chemistry. Created three modules to integrate green chemistry into organic chemistry—Alcohols, Ethers and Sulfides, and Carbonyl Redox. NIH and NSF-funded research in chemical biology of proline isomerization in the cell cycle and collagen.
