Bio

By training, I am a physical chemist with specialties in materials and computational chemistry. I’ve earned certificates in Sustainability and Green Chemistry since completing my PhD. I have been involved with green chemistry and Beyond Benign since 2016. I started out learning about it and wanted to learn more, so I just kept going. Since I started this journey, I have gotten more involved with toxicology - I am in the rotation to teach Environmental Toxicology and am taking courses to improve my knowledge.

  • cmwoodbridge was just tagged in a comment: @cmwoodbridge , you are looking for examples of how they are used when assessing existing molecules or designing new ones, their value, journal articles related to QSARs for students to read or something else? For now, I can share an example of QSARs being used to support hazard assessments of existing chemicals.  For example, if you look at the GreenScreen Chemical hazard assessment on pentylene glycol (click HERE and then go to download) one can see that a number of QSAR models were used to support the scoring of certain endpoints.  (there are other open access assessments here if you wanted students to each choose an assessment and find endpoints where QSARs were used). Information in the intro of this webinar could also be helpful if you want soem general talking points on the value- https://www.oecd.org/en/events/2023/11/qsar-assessment-framework-guidance-for-assessing-qsar-models-and-predictions.html.   ...
