Bio

Marzieh Joda is a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering at the Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), where she is scheduled to defend her doctoral thesis on 31 November 2025. Her research focuses on the fabrication of advanced manganese oxide electrocatalysts on graphite substrates for direct electrooxidation of ammonia wastewater and green hydrogen production. Her doctoral research has been financially supported by Amirkabir University and scientifically advised by leading international experts, including Prof. Chin-Pao Huang (University of Delaware, USA) and Prof. Vahid Vatanpour (Istanbul Technical University, Türkiye).

She holds an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University (2004), where her thesis introduced an extended NRTL–NRF thermodynamic model for aqueous polymer–salt systems. She completed her B.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Tehran (2000), working on supercritical fluid applications for coke removal from zeolite catalysts.

Marzieh has an extensive scientific record with publications in high-impact journals such as the Journal of Power Sources, Applied Catalysis B, Fluid Phase Equilibria, The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, and Separation Science and Technology. She has presented her work at major international scientific conferences including the Electrochemical Society (ECS) meetings in the USA, Sweden, and Iran, and has been awarded the ECS Travel Grant and Early Career Membership Award (2023). She also received the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology Award for the best M.S. thesis among all engineering majors (2005).

Her technical expertise spans electrocatalysis, electrochemical oxidation processes, thermodynamics, adsorption phenomena, wastewater treatment technologies, membrane systems, energy–water integration, and process optimization. She is proficient in a wide range of scientific and industrial software including HighScore Plus, Origin, Fortran, MATLAB, Aspen Plus, OLGA, and PVT Sim.

Beyond her academic achievements, Marzieh has over two decades of experience as a teaching assistant in advanced courses such as wastewater treatment technologies, reactor design, and thermodynamics at top Iranian universities. She has also supervised and contributed to more than 30 research and industrial projects in areas such as industrial wastewater treatment, refinery energy optimization, membrane processes, petrochemical technology roadmaps, and renewable energy strategies.

Marzieh is also actively engaged in gender, environment, and climate-related social initiatives, including authorship in Women, Water, Environment, and Climate Change (Fardaba Publication, 2023) and certified participation in advanced Gender Responsive Budgeting training by OQ Consulting BV (Netherlands, 2023).

With a strong foundation in research, teaching, industrial consultation, and international collaboration, Marzieh Joda is recognized as a multidisciplinary chemical engineer with impactful contributions to environmental sustainability, energy–water systems, and advanced electrochemical technologies.
