Bio

Professor James Dama Habila is a distinguished scholar of Natural Product and Synthetic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria. With a career dedicated to advancing the frontiers of chemical sciences, he is passionate about the isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from plants as well as the design and synthesis of molecules in the search for novel biologically active compounds.
His research bridges traditional knowledge of natural remedies with modern chemical innovation, targeting the discovery of therapeutic agents that address pressing health challenges. Over the years, Professor Habila has contributed significantly to the body of knowledge in phytochemistry and medicinal chemistry, inspiring both students and colleagues through his teaching, mentorship, and publications.
Driven by curiosity and the desire to translate natural resources into valuable products for human well-being, Professor James Dama Habila continues to be a leading voice in natural product research and synthetic chemistry in Nigeria and beyond.
