- Clara Cahill was just tagged in a comment: @Clara Cahill , Here are two quotes from when we developed the prelab:Students “felt empowered to make good choices in lab where they are normally just told what to use for chemicals” “I was pleasantly surprised when students (unprompted by me) asked for access to hazard information about the products of each reaction as well to ensure that they were not going to have safety or disposal issues at the end of their procedures”We created it partially to add to the backstory and also because the activity is based on what we and others were doing at that time which was using GreenScreen (another chemical hazard assessment methodology) to compare chemicals with similar functions to identify safer alternatives. If you want more vingnettes, let me know. there are tons. One that has been developed is the ToxTidbits module in the Toxicology for Chemists curriculum. Also, if you want to talk about more ways to integrate tox into your chem class, come join us in the Toxicology for Chemists group!...
