Bio

Dr Anita Nehra did her B.Sc. and M.Sc. from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur before moving to Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai in 2010 for pursuing PhD in the area of “developing supramolecular systems for selective and specific sensing of ions and molecules” with Prof Chebrolu Pulla Rao. Further, she worked at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam as a National postdoctoral fellow (SERB-NPDF) to develop polymer-based composites for fluoride removal from groundwater until 2019 with Prof Rajni Bhandari. After having a maternity break of around 18 months, she pursued postdoctoral research work at Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur as a Research Associate and developed fluoride sensors during 2021-2022 with Prof Rakesh Kumar Sharma on a Newton-Bhabha Project. She worked as an Assistant Professor in the Dept of Chemistry, JECRC University, Jaipur since Sept 2022 while joining MME Dept at LNMIIT, Jaipur as a guest faculty. Dr Nehra is a life member of prestigious societies, such as, Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI), Indian society of chemists and biologists (ISCB) and Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT) and member of Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), UK. Dr Nehra is also an Early Career Advisory member of Women in Supramolecular Chemistry (WISC). In addition, she involves herself in outreach activities by various means, such as, she has been volunteering for WiSTEM international organization as a mentor to High School Girls to guide them for higher studies in STEM since 2023. Dr Anita has also been an organizing committee member of vMASC: RSC virtual Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry Seminar Series for more than a year now. She has also been Dept Representative for the Green Chemistry Commitment of Beyond Benign since March 2024 and volunteering as a Finite Earth Movement (FEM) speaker of Energy Swaraj Foundation. Her research interests are developing organic-inorganic hybrid materials for applications, such as environmental remediations, energy, water sensing & remediation, photocatalysis, ion & molecular sensing, microbial recognition through sustainbale approaches.
