Bio

Dr. Alberto Aragón-Muriel is a chemist with a Master's and Doctorate in Chemical Sciences from the Universidad del Valle. From his areas of expertise in Catalysis, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, and Organometallic Chemistry, he has participated in various projects and activities related to the chemical synthesis of homogeneous catalysts and potential therapeutic agents for the control of infectious diseases and cancer. During his doctoral fellowship at the UNAM in Mexico, he conducted studies with organometallic complexes using Schiff base ligands and group 10 metals. He is currently a full professor at the Universidad del Magdalena, where he teaches Inorganic Chemistry, Sustainable Chemistry, and Bioinorganic Chemistry in the Bachelor's Degree programs in Chemistry and Bachelor's Degree programs in Natural Sciences and Environmental Education. As Research and Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Chemistry at the University of Magdalena, he is leading initiatives to implement green practices in various theoretical and practical courses in university programs and in primary and secondary education institutions.
