Our research focuses on the use of mechanochemical and related solid-state synthesis approaches to make materials under solvent-free or low-solvent conditions, aiming to reduce the waste, cost, and hazards of chemical reactions.

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) promotes a resource-efficient recycling economy and the development of methods for plastic recycling (https://rb.gy/rgxlzq).
Within this scope, BasCat - UniCat BASF JointLab investigates catalytic hydrogenation of plastic waste to enable a circular plastic economy. This project aims at the efficient use of green hydrogen for turning mixed plastic waste into a raw material for the chemical industry.
